The power of choice and how to own it.

Really? It’s easier said than be done?

Have you ever wondered why making choices seems tough, unease and dreadful? There’s always this dilemma of choosing a choice that brings a better outcome or rather a choice that brings comfort. For example, taking the lift or climbing two flights of stairs during rush hour. Taking the lift might seem like a comforting reason and on the other hand, climbing seems like a not so brilliant idea. It’s clear, a choice between comfort and time-saving.

Is that hard to make any choice on a daily basis? We have twenty-four hours a day and there are so many things that we have to choose from and decide what’s best. Making a choice is complex, it involves the consideration of the environment, people, perception, emotions, values and many more. We must all agree, whether or not, we are responsible for the outcome of any decision made. See, “we”, means you, alone are solely responsible for your thoughts, emotions and decision making. Which in turn leads to personal fulfillment.

Are there any times, you regretted a choice you made and thus gone through an emotional roller coaster. Feeling beaten down, angry or clueless. Think again, our mind is wired to loop thoughts, emotions, and actions. Without emotions, there would not be thoughts of better ideas or solutions and hence creating actions to make a choice.

Again, is it hard to make choices? Is it a tough choice to choose between joy and regret? Don’t get me wrong, with regret we learn, unlearn and relearn. It is like how we reflect and reset on a daily basis. Why don’t we take away the fear of regret while making a choice and replace it with a positive mindset of adapting as it is? I choose to start my day thinking about something positive. I choose to climb that two flights of stairs, even though it’s tiring but I clock my steps. Yes, I perspired and it might ruin my mascara a little but I know I can touch it up and cool down with a glass of iced water.

I personally find it fascinating to see how I learn to adapt to a positive mindset while making choices. If a wrong choice is made, there’s always an alternative in rerouting it for a better outcome. It’s never the end. As the saying goes, there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so. Let this trigger your emotions and bring them into your thoughts and let it shine through your action while making any decision. Be positive, be amazed by how choice-making can be less stressful.

Lastly, remember to breathe, live, love and let go.
